The Dean Redfish Fly
By Shawn Zelek
The Dean Redfish Fly was developed by Chris Dean and is meant to give an impression of a common shrimp. This is an easy fly to tie and an effective one to fish. It’s a great weedless fly for dark bottoms and thick grass; the fly is highly visible to both the angler and the fish and therefore makes a great fly for both sight fishing and blind casting. I like to fish it with short steady strips. As with all bendbacks, the hookset can be trick. Try to be patient and let the fish get a good hold of it before employing your strip set. Let’s get started!
Have fun and please be sure to release healthy fish!
