7 a.m. in early July is a time most high schoolers can be found buried firmly in their beds, enjoying the last month or so of summer.

For Venice High volleyball coach Brian Wheatley and his Indians players, 7 a.m. in early July is another opportunity to earn a leg up on the competition.
