The VHS boys basketball team went toe-to-toe with the high-powered Cardinal Mooney Cougars Tuesday night, but Venice wound up on the wrong end of the 78-73 final score.

Cougars sophomore Antonio Blakeney, one of the area’s top players, scored all 22 of his points over the final three quarters, despite Venice tailoring its defense around the 6-foot-3 standout.
