Loren Anderson, 74, of Bottineau/Lake Metigoshe, N.D., formerly of Williston, was taken home by his Lord on Saturday, Feb. 9, 2013, while at Tidewell Hospice House in his winter home of Venice.

Loren was born July 6, 1938, in Westhope, N.D., to Virgil and Lillie Anderson, the second of five children. He graduated from Landa High School in 1958, received his bachelor of science degree in education from Minot State University and taught for 32 years in Kenmare and Williston.

He married Pennie Olson in 1982, and was previously married to Shirley (Glimm) Vogl.

He is survived by them and their children (by age), Lorna (Anderson) Lautenschlager, Berthold, N.D., Brent Anderson, Colleyville, Texas, Lance Ceynar, Glendive, Mont., Layton Anderson, Marshfield, Wis., and Erin Ceynar (Dalager), New Brighton, Minn.; 13 grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; his sisters, Virginia Berg, Minot, N.D., Muriel Talley, Venice, and Erma Hauglie, Bismarck, N.D.; and brother, Jerry Anderson, Wadena, Minn.

Loren was a member of Grace Lutheran Brethren Church in Bottineau and Emmanuel Lutheran Church in Venice. He had been honored as North Dakota Teacher of the Year, served as Exalted Ruler of the Williston Elks Club and District Deputy of the Grand Lodge, and held offices with the NDEA, NEA, Moose Lodge and Eagles Aerie.

Services: Services will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, March 9, at Grace Lutheran Church in Bottineau, N.D. Arrangements are by Ewing Funeral Home, Venice:
