Virginia Brent Risley, of Southport, Conn. and Venice Fla., passed away peacefully Thursday, Nov. 29, 2012, surrounded by her loving family, after a long, courageous battle with Alzheimer’s disease. Her devoted and beloved husband, Richard Wentworth Risley, passed away suddenly and peacefully Thursday, Jan. 17, 2013, with his daughter by his side. Gini and Dick had recently celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary.

Virginia was born in Boston, Mass., April 12, 1926. Richard was born in New Bedford, Mass., Feb. 21, 1924. Their love story began at Tufts University, which they both graduated from. After serving in the Air Force during World War II, he and Gini married.

Gini and Dick settled in Southport, Conn. They adopted two children, Roger and Tracy, whom they adored. Gini was a teacher at Fairfield Country Day School for many years and Dick was a hospital administrator at Bridgeport Hospital. They lived in Southport for 40 years and were longtime members of the Fairfield Beach Club and Brooklawn Country Club. They were usually found playing golf at Brooklawn or on the tennis courts or having dinner at the Beach Club with friends. Dick also enjoyed his woodworking, crafting exquisite furniture that will be cherished by his children and future Risley generations for years to come.

They retired to Venice, where they continued to have a very active social life. They traveled all over the world and, when not traveling, were on the tennis courts. They loved life, loved their children and loved having evening cocktails overlooking their lake. Gini loved sunsets. Gini and Dick were very much loved by their children and will be deeply missed.

They are survived by their two devoted children, Dr. Tracy Risley, a veterinarian on Cape Cod, Mass., and Roger Risley, a business executive living in Coatesville, Pa. They have a grandson, Robert Risley, also from Coatesville, Pa.
