Evelyn E. Simpson, of Chelsea, Mich. formerly of North Port, Fla. and Flanders, N.J., passed away Wednesday, Jan. 16, 2013, at age 95.

Evelyn was born Sept. 14, 1917, in Newark, N.J., to Charles and Sophie O’Connor.

In March 1941, Evelyn married her loving husband, Donald, and together they raised their daughter, Donna Lynn. Evelyn had many interests, including beading, crafts, line dancing and breeding and showing standard poodles. Before moving to Michigan last year, Evelyn belonged to the North Port Yacht Club, North Port Senior Center and Reformed Community Church of Venice, where she had many friends to keep her busy.

Surviving Evelyn are her daughter, Donna (David) Piper of Dexter, Mich.; granddaughter, Kari (Chris) Bilakos of Dexter, Mich., grandson, Kyle (Tracey) DellaVecchia of Hamilton, Mich.; great-grandchildren, Alexandra and Alana Bilakos and Andrew and Mariana DellaVecchia; and special niece and nephew, Barbara Ann Schlerf and Donald Miles. Evelyn was preceded in death by her husband, Donald Simpson, and grandson, Darren DellaVecchia.
