Sandra Kay Carlson, age 72, of Nokomis, formerly of Spring Lake Park, Minn., passed away peacefully Saturday, Dec. 1, 2012, surrounded by her children Ray III (Maggie), Sid (Kim) and Cathy (John) Grams. She was preceded in death by her mother, Avelda Johnson, and husband, Ray Jr.

She is also survived by her beloved grandchildren, Jessica, Matt, Eleanor and Julia; her sister, Fran, her brother, Sid; nieces, nephews; step-grandchildren; great-grandchildren; and many friends. She will be dearly missed.

Sandy was born in Esterville, Iowa, graduated from Fairmont High School, Fairmont, Minn., and moved to Spring Lake Park in 1966. Sandy was the first graduate of Fairmont Hospital’s X-ray technician program, in 1959. She continued with her hospital career at Unity Hospital in Fridley, Minn. Her second career was as owner and operator of Antiques in the Park with her late husband.

The family would like to express their gratitude to the staff of Tampa General Hospital’s lung transplant team and the care given to her.
