Merle L. Dwyer, age 83, of Venice, passed away Sunday, Dec. 2, 2012.

She was born Jan. 6, 1929, in Scranton, Pa. Merle was a teacher in both public schools and private parochial schools. Merle moved to Venice in 1991 from Texas after residing in Hillsborough, N.J., for the majority of her life. She was a member of Epiphany Cathedral in Venice and an auxiliary member of the American Legion.

She is survived by her son, Glynn J. Dwyer Jr., of Highlands, N.J.; and two granddaughters, Ashton Dwyer, currently a student at Bryn Mawr College in Bryn Mawr, Pa., and Erica Dwyer, currently a student at the Hun School of Princeton. She was preceded in death by her husband, Glynn J. Dwyer Sr., who passed away in 2001.

Services: A memorial service will be held in Scranton, Pa. Farley Funeral Home, Venice, is handling the arrangements.
