Each time I go back home to Virginia, I am overwhelmed with the feeling of simplicity. Back home, there never seems to be anything that can’t be handled with a smile, a comforting hug if the situation is serious or a simple gesture of kindness when your hands are full.
The pace at which the people go about their routines is neither fast nor slow; somehow, it feels like it is methodical, driven with purpose opposed to urgency. I observed detailed planning of just about everything to do with completing a day in their life and participation was not at question, just an expectation.
