Driver’s handbook more friendly to bikers

One of the concerns I had when becoming involved with helping in the preparation of the application for Venice becoming a Bicycle Friendly Community was the limited amount of information concerning cyclist and pedestrian rights covered in the Florida Driver’s Handbook.

Thanks to some aggressive work and leadership of Dennis Scott, the State Pedestrian/Bicycle Coordinator (now retired), colleague Dwight Kingsbury, and suggestions from several members of the Capital City Cyclists advocacy committee, many useful edits and suggestions were adopted into the 2012 driver’s manual.
