Punta Gorda youth baseball is about to take a big step up.

After years of affiliation with Little League, league officials have decided to move to the Cal Ripken organization, a move which promises to improve the quality of the game and bring in more kids, while removing the restrictions and borders that handcuffed the city’s youth baseball program for years.
