Ralph L. Watson Sr., 86, of Port Charlotte, Fla., formerly from Melrose, Mass., passed away Friday, Sept. 27, 2013, he was surrounded by his family both in person and in spirit.
He was born Jan. 24, 1927.
Ralph was a proud veteran, serving in the U.S. Army during the Korean War and received a Bronze Star and a Purple Heart.
He is also survived by his loving wife of 60 years, June S. Watson; children, Paul Watson, Janet Riordan, Ralph Watson Jr., all of Massachusetts, Donna Ridley of South Carolina and locally, Diane (Robert) Roth of Port Charlotte; six grandchildren, Jessica and Bobby Roth, Timothy, Kevin and Theresa Riordan and Alyssa Watson; three great-grandchildren; three sisters; a brother; along with many nieces and nephews. Ralph was preceded in death by his son, Stephen.
A service will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 2, 2013, at Rest Lawn Memorial Gardens in Port Charlotte. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to DAV – Disabled American Veterans, P.O. Box 14301, Cincinnati, OH 45250.
