Lyle Erwin Vollmer

Lyle Erwin Vollmer, 83, of Port Charlotte, FL, passed peacefully on February 27, 2013, surrounded by love and his children when he passed into eternal life. He was born April 21, 1929 in Milwaukee, WI and Lyle served his country in the US Air Force during the Korean War in Japan and Hawaii. Lyle graduated with honors from Milwaukee School of Engineering and was recruited as an Electrical Engineer for Hughes Aircraft in CA where he worked for over 30 years before retiring to Punta Gorda, FL. Lyle touched the hearts of family and friends as a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, where he will be dearly missed.

He is survived by his daughter, VaNessa Vollmer of Orange County, CA; son, Norman (Elizabeth) Vollmer of Punta Gorda, FL; grandchildren, Skyler, Katherine and Nicholas Vollmer of Punta Gorda, FL; sister in law, Ann Vollmer, niece, Leesa MacGowan, nephew, Steven L. Vollmer, of Beloit, WI, and cousin, Ken Swan of Racine, WI. Lyle was predeceased by brother, Gene Vollmer, March 2008, and former-wife Harriet Vollmer, January 21, 2013 in Orange, California.

Services will be held at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, 1303 Forrest Nelson Blvd., Port Charlotte, FL Saturday, March 9, 2013. The visitation will be from 10:00 am till 11:00 am, with the funeral service at 11:00 am. Graveside services with military honors immediately follow at Royal Palm Memorial Gardens in Punta Gorda, FL. In lieu of flowers, the family is requesting donations be made in honor of Lyle to the Disabled Veterans of America, or to the Milwaukee School of Engineering to support a legacy of excellence in the science community he enriched and loved so much.
