Edward M. DuBois

Edward M. DuBois, 87, of Port Charlotte, Fla., peacefully passed away Saturday, Jan. 19, 2013, at his Port Charlotte home.

He was born Sept. 6, 1925, in Greenville, Ohio.

Edward was a World War II veteran, serving in the U.S. Army Air Corps, and enjoyed many years as a private pilot in Dayton, Ohio, at the Moraine Airpark.

He is survived by his daughter, Fritz (Gene) Howe; granddaughter, Wendy (Matt) Short; great-grandchildren, Lorin and Cooper Short; step-grandson, Ken (Adria, and son Zach) Howe; step-granddaughter, Kim (sons, Thomas and Tim) Cohen; and very special friend, Maxine Gindhart. He was preceded in death by his parents, Frank Mergler and Glerna Mae (nee Cox) DuBois; and siblings, Edna DuBois, Walter DuBois, James (Fran) DuBois and Dorothy DuBois.

A Memorial Service will be held in Dayton at a later date.
