Virginia Belle “Ginny” Thompson, 85, of Tampa, Fla., and formerly of Punta Gorda, Fla., went to be with God, Sunday, Jan. 20, 2013.

Ginny was married to Don Thompson for 64 years. They lived in Union Lake, Mich., and moved to Punta Gorda in 1985. She was an accomplished artist, although she did not start painting until she was 50 years old. Ginny was involved at the Punta Gorda Visual Arts Center.

Survivors include her son, Scott Thompson; daughter-in-law, Kathleen Thompson; granddaughter, Nicole Osterrout; and an amazing and loving family. She was preceded in death by her husband, Don Thompson.

Don and Ginny will be laid to rest together at the Sarasota Veterans Cemetery in Sarasota, Fla. Memorial contributions may be made to Suncoast Hospice in Palm Harbor, Fla.
