Georgia “Ione” Mahoney Grilley Gilbertson Murray, 95, of Port Charlotte, Fla., died Wednesday, Nov. 21, 2012, where she had resided since 1978.

Ione was born July 6, 1917, in Eau Claire, Wis., to George and Agnes (nee Billet) Mahoney.

She married Raymond Grilley on Nov. 9, 1938. After Ray’s death in 1969, she married Vern Gilbertson in Eau Claire. He died in Florida in 1986. Ione married Robert Murray in 1989.

While living in Eau Claire, Ione was a member of the U.S. Figure Skating Club; Eau Claire Figure Skating Club, where she taught figure skating for many years; square-dancing clubs; Grace Lutheran Church and Trinity Lutheran Church. She served as president of Trinity Women, the Eau Claire Women’s Club, and helped organize the Tel-e-Care at Luther Hospital. While in Port Charlotte, she was a member of Holy Trinity Church, the Charlotte Players and the Argon Club.

Ione enjoyed swimming, golf, bowling, dancing, singing and giving parties. She had numerous friends and always took the time to keep in touch with them. She lived 95 active years and enjoyed every minute.

Georgia is survived by daughters, Sharon Wittren of Sarasota, Fla., and Georgia Hitzke of Boston, Mass.; stepdaughters, Nancy (Rex) Mullen of Indian Beach, Fla., and Kathy Poulton of Seville, Ohio; grandchildren, Lori (Steve) Brown of Bradenton, Fla., Carol (Terry) Young of Katy, Texas, Janis (Bill) Roach of Houston, Texas, and Christopher (Staci) Hitzke of White Bear Lake, Minn.; six great-grandchildren, Stephanie Brown, Ryan Brown, Shelby Young, Tom Hitzke, Lea Hitzke and Hope Hitzke; six step-grandchildren; three step-great-grandchildren; brother, Willard (Janet) Wilson of Port Charlotte; sister, Fern Helwig of Lewiston, Texas; former sons-in-law, Donald Wittren of Altoona, Wis., and Frank Hitzke of Hudson, Wis.; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by three husbands; her parents; brother, Eugene Mahoney; sister, Charlotte Anderson; three brothers-in-law, Art Christainson, Elmer Anderson and Walter Helwig; niece, Nan Anderson; stepdaughter, Pat Korb; and stepsons-in-law, Don Korb and Tom Poulton.

Visitation will take place from noon until the funeral services at 1 p.m. Monday, Dec. 3, 2012, at Fuller Speckien Hulke Funeral Home, 3209 Rudolph Road, Eau Claire, WI 54701. Pastor David Irgens of Grace Lutheran Church in Eau Claire will officiate. Burial will be at Lakeview Cemetery in Eau Claire immediately following the service. Her life will be celebrated in Port Charlotte at a Memorial Service at 11 a.m. Monday, Dec. 17, 2012, at Holy Trinity Lutheran Church.
