D. Wayne McFarland, 90, of Port Charlotte, Fla., passed away Tuesday, Nov. 20, 2012.

He was born April 7, 1922, the son of Leroy and Ruby (nee Boston) McFarland, in Virden, Ill.

D. Wayne moved from Springfield, Ill., to this area in 1960, and was a pastor and a member of Sonshine Baptist Church. He was a honorary member of the Masons.

D. Wayne is survived by his wife, Joan; children, Cheri Huff of Punta Gorda, Fla., Fred McFarland of Punta Gorda, S. David McFarland of Seminole, Fla., and Nancy Kwasnik of Port Charlotte; sister, Shirley McFarland of Sarasota, Fla.; and numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Ruth.
