George C. Lamb

George C. Lamb, 90, of Punta Gorda, Fla., passed away Saturday, Nov. 17, 2012.

He was born and raised in Flushing, N.Y., to George and Alvina Randall Lamb.

George was a Veteran of World War II serving as an M.P. in the U.S. Army. After returning home, he joined the Long Island, State Parkway Police. He moved to Florida in 1976 and opened his own business, George Lamb Distributors-Automotive-Marine Supplies. George was a Charter and Lifetime Member of the Punta Gorda B.P.O. Elks Lodge 2606. He was an Elk for over 56 years, serving as Exalted Ruler 1988-1989. In his many years of service to the Elks he served on every committee, as well as the Florida State Sports Chairman. George was past Commodore of the Smithtown Bay Yacht Club.

He is survived by his loving family, including his wife of 64 years, Mildred Lamb; son, George R. (Susan) Lamb of Pennsylvania; granddaughters, Allison (Michael) Shenberger of Michigan, and Marilla Lamb of Arizona; and great-grandchildren, Riley and Tristan Shenberger.

Visitation will be from 10 a.m. until the funeral services at noon Saturday, Nov. 24, 2012, at Roberson Funeral Home, 215 Mary St., Punta Gorda.
