Alice E. Burnell, 65, of Port Charlotte, Fla., passed away Saturday, Nov. 3, 2012.

She was born March 19, 1947, Staten Island, N.Y. to Ray and Emma Merrill.

Alice moved to the Englewood area 11 years ago, from Lanoka Harbor, N.J. She was a real estate broker for Home Choice Realty of Punta Gorda, Fla. Alice always believed in doing the right thing, so she could sleep like a baby at night. She was a member of the V.F.W. Auxiliary and the Elks Lodge both in New Jersey.

Alice is survived by her loving husband of 45 years, John F. Burnell; brothers, Raymond Merrill of Summerfield, Fla., and Leonard Provenzano of St. Cloud, Fla.; nieces, Diane Provenzano of St. Cloud, and Bonnie Chaskes of East Brunswick, N.J.; and nephew, Raymond Merrill Jr. of Danville, Pa.

A visitation will be held from 10 a.m. until 12 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 7, 2012, with funeral services to follow at Lemon Bay Funeral Home, Englewood Chapel. Burial will be at 10 a.m. Thursday, Nov. 8, 2012, at Sarasota National Cemetery.
