Thanksgiving and Christmas are long gone — and so is the food that people generously donated to area food pantries during the holidays. So on Sunday, the fourth annual Feed the Harbor event will attempt to fill the pantries in Port Charlotte, Punta Gorda and Englewood.

Volunteers will be at all Publix stores in Punta Gorda and Port Charlotte and two in Englewood — Merchants Crossing and Olde Village — to collect food donations from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. The Publix stores will have lists of most-needed items along with many sales and “buy one get one,” or BOGO, deals. People can also shop at other stores and bring the food to volunteers in the parking lots of the participating Publix stores.
