The site of the former Punta Gorda Golf and Country Club just sold to a Tampa developer for $2.5 million in December, a purchase price considerably less than the $4.7 million paid for the 98 acres in 2005.
Two chunks of what could be considered prime commercial real estate in Charlotte County sold in December for half their purchase price from seven years ago, but the new principal owners for both properties are tight-lipped about any plans.
John Gentis, principal owner of Sarasota-based WCU2 Holdings, purchased 3 acres of waterfront property in Charlotte Harbor, just north of the northbound U.S. 41 Barron Collier Bridge, for $1.74 million. It was a steep discount from the previous price of $3.715 million in October 2006, when Sarasota-based Grande Harbour Corp. purchased the property, located at 5000 Tamiami Trail.
