PUNTA GORDA — When the checkered flag goes down at the Punta Gorda Speedway tonight, late-model cars, Cowboy Cadillac pickups and beat-up Road Warriors will begin roaring around the track like there’s no tomorrow.

And that may well prove to be the case.
