TALLAHASSEE (AP) — Florida emergency management officials are heading to New York for ten days to help in the aftermath of Hurricane Sandy.

Workers from Pasco, Pinellas and Polk counties will help staff the logistics center there.

A team of Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission law enforcement officers are already in New Jersey helping with relief work. Emergency personnel from the Seminole Tribe of Florida also traveled to New York to aid the Shinnecock Indian Tribe.

The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Jacksonville District is working with officials in three states to assess damage from the storm.

Engineers have been dispatched to New York and New Jersey and a separate team is assisting in Florida with damage assessments from the monster storm.
