ORLANDO, Fla. (AP) — A Virginia Beach man will meet the mother of the teen who donated his organs at the Disney Half Marathon this weekend.

Thirty-four year-old Justin Legg says he often thought of Jarred Carter while training for the grueling race. Carter’s family decided to donate his organs after he died in 2010 from a gunshot wound.

Legg is a former Navy SEAL and was battling leukemia. After receiving Carter’s lungs, he underwent a double lung transplant.

Legg will meet Carter’s mother, Julie McCarthy, at Disney Wine & Dine Half Marathon on Saturday. Legg is also running in the race.

She told the Orlando Sentinel she can’t wait to meet Legg because it will be just like hugging her son.
