a time for generosity

With the bright red donation bucket nearby, Helen Wrobbel rings a bell in each hand during a 2-hour volunteer shift for the Salvation Army on Dec. 6. Wrobbel was working on behalf of the Punta Gorda Historical Society, an organization near and dear to her heart.

With a bell in each hand, volunteer Helen Wrobbel was all about attracting as much attention as possible during her time at the Publix Supermarket in Punta Gorda Dec. 6. The Salvation Army volunteer, who was working hours on behalf of the Punta Gorda Historical Society, said, "People in the store said, 'You're really ringing them (bells).' I want to be loud. It's fun, and I'm glad I can help."

Sleigh bells aren’t the only ones ringing during the holiday season.
Walk into any Walmart, Publix Supermarket or Winn-Dixie and the sound of the Salvation Army bell ringers can be heard.
