Mary N. Barton, 89, of Port Charlotte, Fla., passed away Tuesday, Oct. 8, 2013.
She was born April 11, 1924, in New York City, N.Y., and moved to this area in 1989 from Rockville, Md.
Mrs. Barton is a retired educator. She enjoyed bowling, and was a member and very active at St. Charles Borromeo Catholic Church. Mrs. Barton received her Bachelor’s degree from Mount St. Vincent College in New York.
She is survived by her daughters, Ann Marie (Don) Davis of Lithia, Fla., and Patricia (Warren) Currie of Overland Park, Kan.; sons, Michael of Rockville, Brian (Susan) of Ijamsville, Md., and William of Port Charlotte; grandchildren, Andrea Davis, William Barton Jr., Katie (Charlie) Griswold, Bethany (Jeffrey) Herron, Matthew Barton, Holly Currie, Nickki Currie, Tim Currie, Talli Currie, Christopher Barton, Julie Barton and Shannon Barton; and great-granddaughter, Amelia Griswold. Mrs. Barton was preceded in death by her husband, George R. Barton.
The Mass of Christian Burial will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Society of St. Vincent de Paul, 21505 Augusta Ave., Port Charlotte, FL 33952.
