Marie Jocelyn Theodat, 60, of Port Charlotte, Fla., passed away Thursday, Sept. 26, 2013, at Lakeland Regional Medical Center.
She was born and raised in Port Au Prince, Haiti.
After becoming a registered nurse, Marie relocated to the United States, living in Miami, Fla., for a short time. While in the U.S., she was able to reunite with her childhood sweetheart, Frantz, and the couple moved to Brooklyn, N.Y. Shortly after, they were married and had two children, Clifford and Valerie Theodat. In 1988, after spending some time in New York, the family decided to move to Port Charlotte, where they enjoyed their life together.
Marie dedicated 25 years of her life as a caregiver; she was also a devoted mother and wife. She will be deeply missed by all who knew her.
Marie is survived by her husband of 29 years, Frantz Theodat; son, Clifford Theodat of Port Charlotte; daughter, Valerie Theodat of Port Charlotte; and grandchild, J.C., and a second to be expected.
Visitation will be held from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 10, 2013, at Charlotte Memorial Funeral Home and Cemetery, 9400 Indian Springs Cemetery Road, Punta Gorda, Fla. Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Friday, Oct. 11, 2013, at Murdock Baptist Church, 18375 Cochran Blvd., Port Charlotte, Fla. Entombment will follow at the Tranquility Hall Mausoleum at Charlotte Memorial Funeral Home and Cemetery.
All memorial contributions will be donated to charities that are focused on the education of healthy eating and lifestyles, in honor of Marie J. Theodat.
