Wanda L. Willard, 87, of Port Charlotte, Fla., died Sunday, Sept. 22, 2013, in her residence at Harbour Terrace, South Port Square in Port Charlotte.

She was born Jan. 29, 1926, in Osawatomie, Kan., to C.O. and Marie (nee Mahon) Fausett.

Wanda moved to Punta Gorda, Fla., in 2004, from Peoria, Ill., after wintering several years on the Gulf. She graduated from Osawatomie High School, and attended the University of Kansas. Wanda loved the Jayhawks and followed them closely every March during the NCAA basketball tournament. She was a master duplicate bridge player and an avid golfer.

Wanda is survived by two sons, Gordon L. (Kim) Willard of Jacksonville, Fla., and Stan C. (Phyllis) Willard of Rancho Palos Verdes, Calif.; sister, Carolee (Leonard) Hieber of Port Charlotte; grandchildren; great-grandchildren; nephews; and friends. She was preceded in death by her loving husband of 57 years, Stan, who passed in 2009 in Punta Gorda.

A small family remembrance will be held in Kansas in the spring.

The family would like to thank the staff at Harbour Terrace for the compassionate care that they provided.

Arrangements are being made by the Neptune Society.
