PUNTA GORDA — Voicing the mantra of low taxes, a high level of service and government efficiency, the two Punta Gorda City Council hopefuls provided few surprises during Saturday’s first debate of the election season at the Punta Gorda Isles Civic Association.

However questions from an audience of more than 150 people reflected keen interest in the contest between Nancy Prafke and Charlie Counsil, who are running for the District 5 seat being vacated by current Mayor Bill Albers.
