After several thwarted attempts to sell the former IMPAC University building through more traditional means, the owners of the mammoth blue complex in Punta Gorda have decided the best thing to do is put it on the auction block.

Lamar Fisher, owner of Fisher Auction Co. in Pompano Beach, confirmed Monday that Integrated Control Systems, the estate of IMPAC founder and enigmatic businessman James Irwin, has chosen to auction off the 4.1­‑acre educational complex on Marion Avenue.
