NORTH PORT — Residents in the vicinity of Cranberry and Price boulevards are hoping a petition will make enough noise to halt the development of a new Dollar General store, which is being eyed for the southwest corner of the intersection.

The store is only in a pre-application phase, according to North Port City Planner Barbara McKeathon, who added that a gas station was also in the pre-application phase for the northwest corner of the intersection but has not had any contact with the city since August 2012.
