Evelyn B. Shimkus, 79, of North Port, Fla., passed away Saturday, Feb. 16, 2013.

She was born July 10, 1933, in Torrington, Conn.

Evelyn moved to North Port in 1991 from East Hartland, Conn.

She is greatly missed by her daughter, Maryann (Michael) Burke of North Port; grandchildren, Brandon (Christina) Burke of Idaho, Bradford Burke of Virginia, and Kristina Burke of Maryland; and great-granddaughter, Teagan.

Arrangements are by National Cremation Society of Port Charlotte, Fla.
