Barbara A. Burns
Barbara A. “Barb” Burns, 61, of North Port, Fla., passed away Wednesday, Dec. 26, 2012, at Peace River Regional Medical Center in Port Charlotte, Fla.
She was born Feb. 22, 1951, in Rochester, Mich., and moved to North Port in 1999 from there.
Barb was a wonderful woman who did so much for the community. She worked at the Charlotte County Sheriff’s Office for many years. Barbara was a member of the American Legion, the Elks of Port Charlotte, and Fraternal Order of Police Lodge 66 in Port Charlotte. She was a magnificent wife, mother, sister and grandmother, and will forever be missed by all who loved and knew her.
Survivors include her husband of 30 years, Joseph J. Burns; three sons, Richard Mandley and John Mandley, both of Shelby Township, Mich., and Donald Stewart of North Port; two daughters, Kathryn Brock of Howell, Mich., and Theresa Gennette of North Port; sister, Elaine Nailler of Fort Myers, Fla.; two brothers, James Vukovich of Lennox Township, Mich., and Michael Vukovich of Shelby Township; and five grandchildren, Donovan, Flavia, Alison, Lily and Angela.
Visitation will be held from noon to 2 p.m. and 4 p.m. to 6 p.m., followed by the Funeral Service at 6 p.m., Saturday, Dec. 29, 2012, at Roberson Funeral Home, Port Charlotte Chapel. Interment will be held at a later date at Sarasota National Cemetery in Sarasota, Fla. Friends may visit www.robersonfh.com to sign the memory book and extend condolences to the family.
