Sgt. George Kaiss, 82, passed away Tuesday, July 17, 2012.

He was born and raised in Philadelphia, Pa.

George enlisted in the Pennsylvania Army National Guard in 1947, and retired after 42 years in 1989. He married Margery Doersom Kaiss and lived in Philadelphia, Lafayette Hill, Pa., and Cape May, N.J., before moving to North Port, Fla., in 1987.

George is survived by his daughters, Michelle Hassis and Wendy Moulder; and grandchildren, Troy Hassis, Dylan Hassis and Amy Moulder.

A celebration of life will be held at 12 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 6, 2012, at Harbor Cove Community Center on Imperial Drive in Harbor Cove, Fla., and a second celebration of life will be held at 12 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 7, 2012, at AMVETS Post 312, 7050 Chancellor Blvd., North Port, FL.
