60-acre brush fire still smoldering in Englewood

ROTONDA WEST — For Michael and Marcia Cullinan, the Rotonda Lakes brush fire Wednesday came a bit too close to home — right up to the side and back of their Jade Street home.

Michael’s mother, Pat Connors, had just arrived to visit from California when the fire took off on Jade Street. Marcia said she, her mother-in-law and her two dogs stood out in front of the home as Charlotte County and other firefighters fought back the flames and saved her home.
