NORTH PORT — The unloaded gun passed around by students at Imagine Middle School Tuesday was reported stolen from a car in Charlotte County in 2008, according to North Port Police Capt. Tony Sirianni.

Charlotte County Sheriff’s spokesman Bob Carpenter confirmed the information Wednesday, but could not provide any further details on the weapon — a black High Point 9 mm handgun — that has been missing for five years.
