NORTH PORT — The expansion of South River Road and other improvements to River Road didn’t have to be kicked down the road — they’re already well down the road for funding, somewhere beyond 2021.

But that doesn’t mean that they’re forgotten, according to members of the Sarasota/Manatee Metropolitan Planning Organization and the Charlotte-Punta Gorda MPO, which held a joint meeting Monday at the Morgan Family Community Center in North Port.
