NORTH PORT — The first Heart Gala Celebration, a fundraiser for the North Port Coalition for Homeless/Needy Children, aka the Back Pack Angels, will be held at 6:30 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 9 at Heron Creek Golf & County Club, off Sumter Boulevard.

The event will benefit homeless and needy children and their families in North Port. The Coalition, a volunteer organization that began its work in 2010, collects toiletries and hygiene products and delivers them to all schools, preschools and service agencies in the city. Those who are interested can also donate by purchasing products from Dollar Tree to fulfill the coalition’s need of 400 bags per month. Tickets are $100 each; $60 benefits the organization and $40 is for dinner. The evening will include dinner, entertainment, dancing, and a silent auction with many gift certificates and an array of paintings, jewelry and decor items. For tickets, call Donna at 941-876-4136.
