The Visual Arts Center presents the Best of the Peace River Film Festival for those not here in September, a mini-festival of the best films from the 2012 festival. The event will be at 7 p.m. Jan. 11 at the Punta Gorda Isles Civic Association, 2001 Shreve St. All tickets are $5 and are available online at visualartcenter.org, by phone at 941-639-8810 or at the Visual Arts Center, 210 Maud St., Punta Gorda.

Two of the films, “Recycle” and “Catch of the Day,” were produced in Punta Gorda by local actors and filmmakers, Keith Tracy and Jon Rubin. A brief Q&A after each film provides an opportunity to meet the filmmakers and ask questions about their films.
