NORTH PORT — The mulch fire at the chipper mill in North Port Estates that has been burning since early Monday morning was under control by late Tuesday afternoon, according to city fire officials.

“Things are looking pretty good right now,” said North Port Fire Marshal Michael Frantz. “The fire is, for all practical purposes, out. It’s still smoking, but there’s no active fire.”
