County agrees to $200K software settlement
SARASOTA COUNTY — The Sarasota County Commission agreed Tuesday to pay a $200,000 settlement to CSDC Systems to put an end to a dispute over misuse of the company’s software and violations of its own procurement policy.
CSDC is the owner of the land management software system known as Amanda that the county has used since 2005. Amanda was obtained by the county in 2003 in a contract that was challenged in court by two of CSDC’s competitors. According to court documents, the Second District Court of Appeal determined the contract was void in 2008 and stated that if the county wanted to use a similar system going forward, it would have to procure it according to procedures in the county’s procurement code.
