Mike Campbell has a voice that’s been described as a cross between Tennessee Ernie Ford and Roger Whittaker, and his folk music song stylings are pretty well-known. He’s just not that well-known here. You see, Mike Campbell hails from up north, way up north, as in Alaska, coming to North Port to retire in 2010.

“In Alaska, I’m pretty well-known,” Campbell explained. “Up there, everybody pretty much knows who I am, but when I moved down here, everybody was ‘who’s he?’ He is a master storyteller. “I started writing songs in the early ‘90s. The songs I wrote are basically like the songs I like to sing,” Campbell explained. “They were usually story songs. Irish melodies, folk songs and stuff like that. I’m very proud of many of the songs that I’ve written.”
