Home Tour features historic houses

The Hutchinson-Sperry house on Taylor Street is well known as the location of Liz Hutchinson’s Red Hat Studio, the first downtown studio and the home base of local artist Liz Hutchinson. It was constructed circa 1920 as the home for Travis Parnell, Charlotte County’s first sheriff.

As sure as December follows November, you can count on the ladies of the Punta Gorda Garden Club to put on their popular Holly Days Home Tour. The tour has long been a signature event on a crowded holiday calendar and provides the club with money it puts to very good use in the community.

This year’s version, because of the early Thanksgiving, actually starts on Friday and continues on Saturday. Titled A Holly Jolly Christmas, it is the 19th, and members are hoping to reprise last year’s highly successful event, which drew the largest crowd ever.
