The Polk State College athletic program is holding Breast Cancer Awareness Night on Oct. 17 at 7 p.m. at the Winter Haven Health Center. The event features the Polk State College volleyball team against Suncoast Conference foe St. Petersburg College. Fans may purchase Breast Cancer Awareness items prior to the match. All fans will receive a “Fight Like A Girl” decal and pink bracelet in support of Breast Cancer Awareness Month. Admission is free. The event is sponsored by Fellows Trucking Group.

Big Kahuna Paddle Challenge fundraiser by LW Breakfast Rotary. The Lake Wales Breakfast Rotary Club held its first community paddle challenge using Voyageur canoes in 2003. Its initial purpose was to raise money toward the Club’s Centennial Project commemorating Rotary International’s 100th Anniversary. To participate in the event, which is a race, area businesses and organizations pay an entry fee, most of which goes to the Club’s treasury.
