The Lake Placid Green Dragon varsity football team shook off some spotty play in the first three quarters to take the ball into the end zone twice in the final period and gain a 14-6 win over the Poinciana Eagles and win their Homecoming game Friday night, Sept. 27. The win evened Lake Placid’s record at 2-2 as the Dragons begin their quest in district competition next week with a game against the LaBelle Cowboys.
The Green Dragon defensive unit did an outstanding preventing the Eagles from tallying more than once. Their sole touchdown came late in the second period as the visitors pounced on a Lake Placid fumble on the Green Dragon 44. From there they drove to the goal line in eight plays, punching the ball into the end zone from the 5. A two-point conversion try failed.
