The Lake Placid Lady Dragon basketball team and a host of its fans made the long trip to Fort Myers for the Class 4A regional finals game. The result was not pretty at all, the Dunbar Lady Tigers prevailed in a 62-26 win over Lake Placid. It was a difficult night all around for the Lady Dragons as they faced off against the 2012 State Champions in Class 4A, and this year’s team from a school named after poet Paul Laurence Dunbar appears to have a very good shot at repeating. Dunbar played a dominating defense, ran their fast break to perfection, and made practically every shot they threw up at the basket.
To their credit, the Lady Dragons never let up, played hard from start to finish and we can say without fear of contradiction, “They did us proud!”
