The Lake Placid Lady Dragons’ epic basketball win over the Academy of the Holy Names in regional tournament action was further enhanced by the visit of New York Yankee baseball great, Tino Martinez and his wife. Their daughter, Victoria Martinez, is a member of the AHN Jaguar basketball team and scored 9 points in the game.

Martinez played first base for the Yankees for a number of years. He was noted for his ability both at the plate and as an outstanding fielder and was a fan favorite throughout his career. Martinez cordially shook this reporter’s hand and indicated that, despite the outcome of the game, he and Mrs. Martinez had enjoyed their evening in Lake Placid.
