LPMS boys edge Hill Gustat
In a game which was a nailbiter from start to finish, the Lake Placid Middle School Green Dragon boys’ basketball team came from behind to defeat the Hill Gustat Golden Eagles, 38-36, in a game played in Sebring Thursday, Jan. 31. The win for Lake Placid evened the Green Dragons’ record at 5-5 as they closed out their season.
Hill Gustat led the game, 12-9, at the end of the first quarter and clung to a 19-18 advantage as the teams took intermission. In the third quarter, thanks to some strong play by Markie McCray, James Blake, Victor Jackson and Prentis Legree, the Dragons were able to outscore the Golden Eagles, 10-7, and take a 28-26 lead. From there the two teams scrambled through the fourth quarter, each scoring 10 points, which gave Lake Placid the win.
