The Lake Placid Green Dragon boys’ junior varsity basketball team defeated the Avon Park Red Devils, 40-31, in a game played Friday night, Jan. 18, at the Bill Ross Memorial Gymnasium.

The evening began rather inauspiciously. While JV the teams were warming up on the court, a pair of Avon Park varsity players began an altercation in the stands. The encounter involved a brisk fist fight which brought back memories of the “Friday Night Fights” many older fans remember from the black-and-white television era. Law enforcement arrived to break up the imbroglio.
