The Lake Placid Lady Dragon varsity soccer team played the Sebring Blue Streaks to a standstill until the final five minutes of their game Monday night, Jan. 7. Then, Sebring’s Haylee Peters lit up the fans at Firemen’s Field with a game-winning goal. The shot caromed off the Lady Dragon goalie and Peters smashed it right in from about 40 yards out.

“This was kind of an off night for us,” Coach John Merlo said. “Monday was our first day back at school and the girls seemed sluggish from the start,” he said. “This is a young group, and sometimes they think they can just turn the intensity on and off at will without realizing that their opponents are playing hard all the time and want to beat us,” Coach Merlo said.
